On motorcycle, across the border into Mexico, along the Pacific, the long desert crossing.  Through Guerreo Negro, pushing hard for Cabo San Lucas.  Returning by Todos Santos, La Paz, and San Ignacio.  Back through Guerreo Negro and that long dry desert, pausing to buy fuel from another guy selling out of the back of his truck.  Back to El Rosario for more fuel for us and the bikes.  Following that road back beside the Pacific and back to the Maria Celeste in San Quintin.

San Quintin, a dusty, windy town where the only paved road is the one that runs through it and you ask yourself why the hell did we stop here?  Where I discovered that I needed to learn a lot more Spanish, where we met Ray, who translated.  Where we spent an unexpected day and a half waiting for John to recover from the effects of dehydration in a little hospital before leaving that beautiful desert country behind.  Crossing back into the land of freeways, crazy winds and riding another of the most winding roads I had ever seen, and,  then reluctantly following that long road home…
